Nickolls & Perks exclusive barrel pick, single barrel #1471 8 year old Kentucky Straight Rye from the renowned Willett Distillery. The Willett family's history in the bourbon industry may be traced back to the 1930s, though the distillery mothballed towards the end of the 20th century as the family focused on independent bottling. By 2012, the distillery was revived and spirit once again ran from the Willett Distillery's stills; this 8 year old rye is one of the oldest barrels from Willett's stocks.
Produced from a mash bill of 74% rye, 15% malted barley and 11% corn, the whiskey in this latest selection was brought to a barrel-entry strength of 110 proof, allowing the spirit to draw in the creamy sweetness from the charred new-oak American Standard Barrel in which it lay for a full 8 years. Finally, it was selected by the Nickolls & Perks team to join our legacy of shop-exclusive single barrel expressions, bottled at the unadulterated strength of 55.8% ABV. A limited yield of just 160 bottles was drawn from the barrel.
